Police say officers spotted a white Volvo at 53rd and Thompson streets traveling at a high rate of speed.
"I saw a young man just covered in blood being helped up by our neighbors. Our neighbors are very good on this block," said Joseph Distefano, who was inside his home at the time crash.Maurice Hall says he didn't see what happened but he heard it and ran down the street to help his friend.
One of the suspects was arrested at the crash scene. The second fled on foot and led officers on a second chase. Both the officer and the person inside the vehicle were transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
