CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 15-year-old boy died Saturday, five days after he was shot in the city’s Brooklyn Centre neighborhood.
Carlos R. Fernandez, of Cleveland, died at MetroHealth Medical Center where he was confined since the shooting took place on March 20, according to police and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner. The shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. at a home on West 31st Street near Pearl Road. Police said that a 15-year-old boy knocked on the door to the home.
Either Fernandez or another 15-year-old boy inside the home opened fire. A bullet hit the teen outside the home in the abdomen and he returned fire, killing Fernandez, police said.The boy who was shot in the abdomen is expected to recover, police said.
