Kerry Dale finally faced justice in a historic sexual abuse case
Kerry Dale, 44, was jailed for two offences which happened between January 2000 and March 2002. Dale, who worked in a school and is understood to have been a teaching assistant, was convicted of three counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16 and two counts of inciting a girl under the age of 16 to commit an act of gross indecency.
A detective who led on the historic sexual abuse case praised the bravery of the victim, believed to have been under 16 at the time of the offences, and urged any victims to make contact with the police. Dale, of Beechtrees, Skelmersdale, was jailed following a trial at Preston Crown Court which finished two weeks ago.
Dale was jailed for seven years. She was also ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register for life. Detective Sergeant Karen Harrison, of Lancashire Police's rape and serious sexual offences team, said: "The victim in this case has shown incredible bravery and I want to place on record my admiration for the courage she has shown throughout this process.
"We have implemented in force dedicated rape and serious sexual assault teams to ensure investigators with the appropriate training take ownership of investigations and look after the individual needs of victims. No matter how historic the case may be, we will investigate it and do everything in our power to put perpetrators before the courts."
