Tanner Bibee was called for two balks in the third inning, leading to an Angels run.
Randal Grichuk doubled to lead off the first inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mike Moustakas, but the Guardians tied the score in the top of the second on Kole Calhoun’s solo home run off Angels lefty Kenny Rosenberg.
Andrés Giménez followed Calhoun with a one-out double, but Rosenberg settled in thanks to an outstanding defensive effort by Brandon Drury, who threw out Gabriel Arias from the seat of his pants after diving to stop a ground ball up the middle. In the fourth, Eduardo Escobar made a diving stop of a hard grounder by Myles Straw before throwing out the speedy center fielder at first.
