Former Easter Road striker reckons Montgomery must overhaul his backline - and he knows where he'd start this summer
There's a line that should never be crossed when managers and players go to acknowledge the fans after a rotten defeat... it’s about 25 yards from the edge of the pitch!
So of course Montgomery and his players were right to applaud the punters. Maybe just keep a safer distance in future. There’s always the danger someone might be tempted to have a bite back - not that it happened on this occasion - but falling out with the fans is the last thing a club needs when results are poor. Just applaud the fans and get yourself off the park.
By the time I got back into the dressing room all hell was breaking loose and Stevie - a guy I love to bits - was in my face accusing me of deliberately dodging a bullet. Not guilty, honestly! But lesson learned. Always acknowledge the fans - and as a team. But from a safe distance. None of this should distract from another shocker of a result for Hibs though. And coming after such a promising win at St Johnstone as well.
Then the stand-in goalie Jojo Wollacott is way short with a pass to his right back with just two minutes of the game left. County are onto the error in a flash and make them pay. It was criminal stuff in front of the jail end of Victoria Park. The manager must be tearing his hair out. Two massive individual errors have cost them dear and that’s not his fault. But if he doesn’t sort it in the summer then he’ll not see the first international break of next season.
