Overall... wind shear is rather strong & the mid & upper level moisture is inconsistent & rather dry across a good part of the Central Atlantic. My point is that tropical waves & disturbances are generally going to struggle in the short term at least.has emerged from disorganized storminess several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles. This wave will move generally northwest toward the NE Caribbean & is likely to struggle over at least the next 3-5 days.
For the first time in NHC’s history, a tropical storm WATCH has been posted for the SW coast of California from the the California/Mexico border to the Orange/Los Angeles County Line and for Catalina Island. Special & extra weather balloon launches will take place through the weekend. From the NHC: “
