Popeyes Louisiana Chicken has owned the fast food spotlight lately, but Taco Bell is jumping back into fried chicken.

On Thursday Taco Bell is rolling out Crispy Tortilla Chicken, its latest effort at selling a fried chicken dish, at locations in Houston and Dayton. It says it has sold $1 billion in nacho fries since they were originally introduced in January, 2018 as a special menu item.Taco Bell has experimented with fried chicken on a number of occasions. In 2017, it launched the Naked Chicken Chalupa, essentially a taco whose shell was made from fried chicken.
