More than 4 million people have enrolled in the Saving on a Valuable Education plan, which bases monthly bills on income and family size. Borrowers report thousands of dollars in errors on their statements. Veuer's Elizabeth Keatinge has more.

“Sweet Trails Alabama involves connecting all 67 counties in the state through a statewide trail system,” Dr. John Kvach, executive director of Sweet Trails Alabama, said. “For us, this is all about getting people to understand what these trails do. From what we’ve learned so far, that connectivity is what people and the community want as a way of developing tourism, and boosting the economy.”

The project’s four focuses include working with local partners to identify existing and planned trails across the state, engaging with stakeholders, using long-distance and local trails to form a network, and creating a five-year implementation plan. While working on the Singing River Trail, Kvach has seen some of the perks of having a trail system nearby. Improvement in health and wellness, increased property values, and entrepreneurial growth are just some of those benefits.

“I got interested in all of this because I grew up near the Chief Ladiga Trail,” Jones said. “On that trail, you can ride it into Atlanta. It’s a little outside my district, but I saw the opportunity the trail provided and the impact it made on the community.”“In the end, it was easy because it was unanimously voted on by both the Senate and the House,” Jones said. “At the start, we had several challenges to overcome.
