The suspect in a hit-and-run crash involving one police officer was captured Saturday in Tennessee after an eight-hour manhunt.
Collierville Police Department received a call about a shooting that occurred near the Fairfield Inn and Suites at Highway 385 around 2:30 a.m., with an officer discovering Keith Houston Jr., 32, at the scene. Houston's car, a 2017 white Corvette, had been identified in the shooting.
"As the officer approached the car, the driver accelerated and drove at the officer, forcing him onto the hood of the vehicle. As the driver, later identified as Keith Houston Jr., was leaving the scene, the officer fell off the vehicle," a press release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation read."According to preliminary reports from the scene, Houston then ran over the officer. At some point during the encounter, the officer fired shots at the vehicle.
