The Supreme Court clears the way for the first federal executions since 2003. The Trump administration has scheduled three inmates to be put to death this week.

A divided Supreme Court cleared the way for the first federal executions since 2003 in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The five-member conservative majority denied inmate claims that the use of pentobarbital for lethal injections would be unconstitutional, over dissents from four liberal justices.
