“Singapore washing” refers to Chinese companies relocating to Singapore to sidestep US-China tensions
SINGAPORE: In Parliament this week, Workers’ Party MPs from Sengkang GRC Louis Chua and Jamus Lim warned against “Singapore washing,” which has become shorthand for the practice of Chinese companies relocating to Singapore to sidestep tensions between the United States and China.
“We should also not allow the world to think that an easy business environment also means a permissive one… Speaking on the Corporate Service Providers Bill, he asked the government to reconsider imposing training requirements for those who hold a significant number of nominee directorships, raise corporate governance standards, and better combat money laundering risks in Singapore.
