The supermarket chain plans to build a new site.
A new Lidl store with a bakery could open in Stockport. The supermarket submitted a planning application in April to open a site off Wellington Road North and Sparthfield Road, in Heaton Norris.
A new priority junction would be created 'located further away from the A6' for vehicle access to the site. The land was previously used as a Mercedes Benz car dealership and showroom, but is currently vacant. Lidl has another site in Stockport on Hempshaw Lane, south of the town centre. It is also planning a new shop on Stockport Road, Cheadle Heath.
That was related to an existing Aldi store on New Bridge Lane, east of Stockport town centre.According to the planning documents, Tesco has sought permission to appeal the High Court's dismissal through the Court of Appeal.
