The program is now in its 17th year. This year’s MYAC class comprised 35 high school juniors representing 11 area high schools. The class began with an induction ceremony in November and concluded on Tuesday with the city council’s recognition.
“I want to thank MYAC for introducing us to the inner workings of local government,” said class vice chair Narsi Choksi. “Whether it’s how much a fire truck costs — it’s a million dollars — or how the waste department operates during a hurricane, we are able to use this knowledge to cultivate our own beliefs and ideas, fostering a sense of growth and innovation.”The council recognized Fort Bend ISD trustee and president Dave Rosenthal, who will not be seeking re-election this year.
FBISD’s Board of Trustees was one of five Texas public school boards to be recognized in H-E-B’s 2017 Excellence in Education Awards program.
