Sugar Land 12-year-old chess master wins 23 games simultaneously at exhibition in Cy-Fair

Chen took seconds for each move while thinking ahead to the next game, whereas his opponents had until his next lap around the table to think of their move. The players were of all ages and skill levels, with some participants years younger, and older, than Chen. The campus’ chess club organized the event with Chen to celebrate his success in completing requirements to become an International Chess Federation, or FIDE, International Master.
The college also collected more than $200 for The Empower Center, an on-campus resource for students in need of support including food, academic help, professional aid and personal needs. Han, who also participated in the exhibition, said the chess club originally planned to pay Chen for the exhibition, but he declined and requested it go to charity.
