Suella was embroiled in a number of controversies before being sacked by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak
Suella Braverman was no stranger to controversy in her time as home secretary, which came to an end after she was sacked in a Cabinet reshuffle today .
Ms Braverman was under increased pressure after writing an unauthorised article in the Times, published on Thursday. She criticised what she called 'pro-Palestinian mobs' and slammed the Met Police for a 'double standard' over their handling of protests.
The policy has attracted widespread condemnation from human rights groups, and Ms Braverman was criticised after telling an event at the 2022 Tory conference that it was her “dream” to deport people to Rwanda. She was confronted over her comments by Holocaust survivor Joan Salter, but Ms Braverman said she would not apologise “for the language that I have used to demonstrate the scale of the problem”.
The Prime Minister decided not to launch an investigation after consulting his ethics adviser, concluding that Ms Braverman’s actions did not amount to a breach of the code even if “a better course of action could have been taken to avoid giving rise to the perception of impropriety”.
