It was Forest's third draw in as many games. Chris Wood scored a brace, giving the Reds faithful some hope of claiming a second home win of the season.
On came Andros Townsend, lachrymose after being spurned by Burnley, for his debut. Ross Barkley added midfield serenity and Elijah Adebayo enhanced the striking threat. Substitute Adebayo then cushioned a long ball on his chest before stroking his finish past Matt Turner to level the game in the second added minute.
Steve Cooper’s team controlled the majority of the game and deserved their lead but lost their focus as the visitors summoned a spirited finish. Forest forced the early pressure as Wood’s volley was held by Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski and Ibrahim Sangaré headed narrowly over. Luton responded through Ogbene’s low cross, which narrowly evaded teammates Carlton Morris and Brown.
Forest seemed to be coasting to victory when Chiedozie Ogbene made the most of a slip by Serge Aurier to pull one back for Rob Edwards’ side. But then Luton stunned their hosts with an equaliser in the second minute of stoppage time.
