Two political newcomers will challenge three veteran Strongsville school board members for three board seats in November. The newcomers are Jeff Johansen Sr., a Sassafras Drive resident, and Beverly Jones, a retired educator. The incumbents are Michelle Bissell, Richard Micko and Laura Wolfe-Housum.
Retired educator with 34 years of experience in several districts and schools, including Highland Local Schools, Mega Grace Christian Centre in Parma, Padua Franciscan High School, St. Bernadette Elementary School in Westlake, St. Angela Merici School in Fairview Park, Parkview Elementary School in Wooster, Gilles-Sweet Elementary School in Fairview Park and Fairview High School.
“As far as curriculum, which is approved by the board, I would insist that only age-appropriate, school-related content be presented in discussions and assignments. This would include the classrooms, school-sponsored activities and school libraries.
