The race will cause road closures and parking restrictions starting at 6 p.m. Friday and lasting through Saturday afternoon, race and city officials said.

Serious local long-distance runners will be out in force Saturday morning for the Newport Liberty Half Marathon, a New York City Marathon tune-up along the Hudson River that features gorgeous views of the Manhattan skyline. The 13.1-mile Jersey City course runs from 18th Street near Newport Green, through Hamilton Park, then south along the waterfront, through Liberty State Park and back north again.
