SINGAPORE — The amount of food preservative in a batch of made-in-Malaysia brand of swiss roll is over the regulated limit and is being recalled by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
Sorbic acid was detected in the strawberry-flavour EGO Swiss Roll — which has a best-before date of Sept 3, 2023 — and found to have the exceeded maximum limit stated in the Singapore Food Regulations.
The agency said in a statement on Friday that it has directed the importer, Kee Wee Hup Kee Food Manufacture Pte Ltd, to recall the product as a precautionary measure and the recall is ongoing.“Consumption of the affected product is unlikely to pose any adverse health effect due to its low toxicity,” SFA said.
However, customers who have bought the rolls and have health-related concerns should not consume it. They may contact their point of purchase for enquiries, it added.
