They couldn't believe it
The power of social media to find out the smallest pieces of information can be fascinating, but a pair of strangers on a search for the truth found out far more than they were bargaining for.
It didn't take the pair long to form a close both, with Rebecca standing beside her sister Lisa as she got married in 2019. “Rebecca’s partner James then messaged saying I needed to contact Rebecca and that it was urgent. I asked is this about this man and he said yes. I asked him is it, dad? And he said yes he’s seen the previous articles about us.
“He’s apologised so many times but he actually didn’t know we were looking for him. It was one of the scenarios that dad goes to the mum asking can I see the kid and he tries a little, a bit more, and then that’s it. She added: "I think it's just incredible that I've managed to find two sisters and my dad just on Facebook. I never thought I would see the day."
Rebecca had never known her dad and also began looking for him after her mum Andrea passed away of cancer aged 37. And they were left astonished when a DNA test confirmed Lisa and Rebecca, from Doncaster, South Yorks., were related.
