Latest travel and weather updates as the Met Office issues amber and yellow weather warnings ahead of Storm Debi
Amber weather warnings have been issued for parts of north-west England and Northern Ireland as Storm Debi hits the UK, bringing heavy rain and severe gale-force winds. Power outages have been reported across the island of Ireland, with tens of thousands of homes left without electricity after the storm made landfall overnight.
The Met Office has issued several weathers warning for Northern Ireland, including an amber alert for wind, which will remain in place in the south east of the region until midday. Much of the Republic of Ireland is covered by a red wind warning – the highest level of alert – which came into place in the early hours and will last until 9am, with an orange warning to carry on until 10am in parts.
