The Bishop of Dunwich Michael Harrison told i his Suffolk community is ‘shaken’ after Storm Babet flooded his homeare concerned they could be struck by flooding once again as fresh yellow weather and flood warnings have been issued.
The Met Office has renewed its warning of a “danger to life” for all affected areas, due to “fast flowing or deep floodwater”.There will be a low risk of flooding in southern England until Wednesday, with parts of eastern England remaining at low risk of flooding through until Thursday Rachel Ayers, Met Office meteorologist, said Lincolnshire and Humberside will be among the worst affected counties and could see 30-50mm of rain falling within two to three hours. While there are no planned travel disruptions over the coming days, the Met Office said bus and train journeys will “probably be affected”, with delays likely.
“For the first time in living memory, the village was cut off for several hours. The school and local health clinic were cut off too, anyone with health issues would have been in real trouble.”left the 183 residents of the seaside village wondering if they were victims of climate change, according to The Right Reverend Harrison.
“Some people have not been able to afford insurance,” he explained. “Some can’t get it because they are living in areas where the premiums are just ridiculous. An oak tree The Right Reverend Harrison said dated back seven decades tumbled down, bringing down power cables and pylons with it, cutting the power to their house.he will be unable to live in his house until next Easter, but has been buoyed by the “heartening” solidarity of the community around him.
