Some areas of Scotland were only accessible by boat and the SPFL fixture card has understandably been decimated by extreme weather.
It stopped Aberdeen even getting outside for training this week, so it's no surprise Storm Babet has decimated the fixture card, inlcuding the Dons' clash with Dundee.
St Johnstone's home encounter with Motherwell has also been called off. The SPFL lower leagues have been hit hard too - those based in Fife, Angus and the North East across the Championship and Leagues One and Two especially. Some parts of the North East have only been accessible by boat as floods forced some councils to evacuate residents, with some locals needing rescued. The likes of Brechin, Forfar and Montrose have bore the brunt of the bad weather.
Safety is paramount, and while it goes without saying some playing sodden playing surfaces will have been rendered unplayable, fan welfare is the primary consideration. Rare red weather warnings mean unnecessary travel is a no no, and conditions on the roads and in towns mean going to the football just isn't top of the agenda for those affected right now. It's hoped conditions will improve over the weekend but that will likely come too late for many games.
A statement from the SPFL read: "You may have seen that the Met Office have extended the Red Weather Warning in the Tayside, Angus and Aberdeenshire areas to be applicable until the end of tomorrow. Following consultation with Police Scotland, the following SPFL fixtures have been postponed:Arbroath v Raith RoversStenhousemuir v Peterhead
