Steele defeated Johnson 34-17 in a playoff game on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022 at Lehnhoff Stadium.Steele senior linebacker Makai Williams was named to the first team of the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 6A All-State team Friday, one of six San Antonio area players to be named to one of the top three teams.
Williams, the District 27-6A defensive MVP and Tulane signee, recorded 141 tackles, including eight tackles for loss and three sacks, leading the Knights to an undefeated regular season before suffering a narrow loss to Lake Travis in the second round. Two of Williams’ teammates, running back Jaydon Bailey and tackle Deven Nixon, earned honorable mention on the squad.
