The Saskatoon Tribal Council said the change would come into effect on Oct. 1.
Those who don’t follow the wellness centre’s zero tolerance drug policy and refuse help will not be allowed to stay at the facility, where previously they were only temporarily banned.
With the change in policy, Arcand said the wellness centre’s 106-beds will be directed to people they are better equipped to serve. He said they’ll also continue to house people with addictions, as long as they are willing to accept help and they don’t exhibit problem behaviour. “We have kids there, we have families there and it’s really, it’s really causing a disruption for the ‘wellness’ part,” he said..
