Mykki Blanco, James Blake and more stars are donating to the Homeless Black Trans Women Fund

As the protests over George Floyd's death at the hands of police continue throughout the country, artists and influencers are stepping up to fund various initiatives that help the protesters, the cause, and the black community at large.Homeless Black Trans Women Fund created by Jesse Pratt López. The campaign was started in December as a means of helping a community of homeless trans women in Atlanta. Since the beginning of the protests, though, the campaign has seen a massive influx of support, now with more than $850,000 and closing in on their goal of $1 million to redistribute to transgender housing shelters throughout Atlanta.
Part of the reason so much progress has been made is thanks to a number of celebrities and Twitter users who began promoting the campaign and encouraging others to donate. Rapper Mykki Blanco, for example, started encouraging his followers to match his $200 donation to the campaign; just a few hours later, James Blake retweeted the rapper, having upped his own donation to $2,000."To anyone that follows me - especially white celebrities - match me or give whatever you can," he wrote.
Over the last few days, a number of other celebrities have begun encouraging their followers to donate to the fund. Check out some their calls to action below, and if you're interested in donating to the Homeless Black Trans Women Fund, click
