A member of staff at the Strand Arts Centre has created a video that shows how the cinema would have looked when it first opened its doors 88 years ago.
The Strand is Northern Ireland's oldest working cinema and has seen a few changes over the years, such as the covering of its original brickwork front and the division of its theatres.When it first opened it consisted of one main theatre that was able to seat over 1,700 people, with this later being split into four.
It takes people through the main entrance, which is where the first set of steps in the reception are now located, and shows how expansive the main theatre would have been 88 years ago, with it being designed along a maritime theme after taking influence from the nearby shipyards. Patrick, who has a background in set design for film and television, said that he has received great feedback from customers who could remember the original theatre.
