The 6-foot-11 Mamukelashvili's play against the Pelicans stands as the latest example of a young player making the most of a great opportunity. The Spurs welcomed him after changing his two-way contract with Milwaukee into a standard NBA deal worth $357,717. “I love Milwaukee,” Mamukelashvili said. “When I was there, I started walking. They made my dream come true. They drafted me and gave me an opportunity to be around the top players in the league. Going back there, I’m really excited to see Bobby , Jrue , Giannis . I just have to give them a big hug.”
With the Spurs, he's stretching the floor big-time, averaging nearly 40.6 percent from long range on 3.6 attempts per game. It's part of a breakout performance that should make his former mentors in Milwaukee proud.
