SpinLaunch, the company designing a catapult-like device to launch rockets into space without propellant, just signed a Space Act Agreement with NASA.
The company claims its system can eliminate more than 70 percent of the fuel and structures required for typical rocket launches. NASA, for example, typically uses half a million gallons of water at launch — and that's before taking into account the vast amount of propellant required to send its rockets into orbit.
