Several vehicles were damaged Saturday night at Tuscaloosa’s North River Yacht Club in an incident that police say may be related to the ongoing Warrior Met Coal strike.

A security guard noticed several homemade caltrop spikes - which cause tire blowouts - in the roadway and parking lot, Taylor said. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the incident is related to the ongoing strike, Taylor said. The club was hosting a Christmas party for Warrior Met Coal,About 1,100 miners with the United Mine Workers of America walked off the job in Tuscaloosa County back on April 1, 2021, seeking better pay and benefits. The strike, now in its 20th month, is believed to be the longest strike in Alabama history.
