She’ll make her seventh All-Star appearance, the same as Candace Parker, the former Spark who will face her former team in L.A. for the first time on Thursday night.
A couple of 2022 WNBA All-Stars will clash Thursday night at Crypto.com Arena, where Nneka Ogwumike and Candace Parker will showcase their talents the day after the league announced the All-Star starters.each other in L.A. for the first time.
“Nneka’s always been that hidden secret around the world,” Williams said Tuesday, perhaps alluding to the fact that Ogwumike was left off the U.S. Olympic team last summer. “She is always prepared to play and give it her all for you, and I think people have taken notice of that. She’s playing at an All-Star performance right now.”
Ogwumike – who is averaging 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game – garnered the fourth-most media votes among frontcourt players, the fifth-most player votes and the sixth-most fan votes. The co-captains will complete their rosters during ESPN’s WNBA All-Star Team Selection Special on July 2 at noon PT, choosing first from the remaining pool of eight starters and then from the pool of 12 reserves.
