Temperatures are expected to soar this week in destinations across Spain, including Majorca and Alicante
Brits holidaying in Spain this week have been warned of baking temperatures with 40C expected in holiday hotspots including Majorca and Alicante. Spain ’s national weather agency Aemet has issued yellow and amber warnings across the country with ‘significantly high temperatures’ forecast.
Forecasting for Tuesday, Aemet said: “Significantly high temperatures in the northeast of the peninsula, the Meseta, areas of the Balearic Islands and inland Andalucia. Maximum temperatures tend to fall in the far north and west, while they tend to rise in the Mediterranean area and the south-east quadrant.
“They are likely to continue to exceed 35 degrees in the interiors of the southern half and the north-east interior of the peninsula, the northern plateau, Ampurdán and areas of the Balearic Islands, and even 40 degrees in the depressions of the north-east and south.”
