South Korean woman loses $70k to Elon Musk deepfake scam

She was persuaded to invest 70 million won ($69,600) after seeing a deepfake video of what appeared the chief executive of Tesla.

Ms Jeong Ji-sun opened up about how she first started talking with the con artist, who claimed to be Mr Elon Musk.

On the April 19 episode, Ms Jeong opened up about how she first started talking with the con artist, who claimed to be Mr Musk. “Musk even said ‘I love you, you know that?’ when we made a video call.” After seeing a video of what appeared to be Mr Musk, Jeong came to believe that the scammer was who he claimed to be.
