Ayr East Councillor Chris Cullen made the announcement this morning.
A South Ayrshire SNP councillor has left the party to join Alba, sharing he has “renewed optimism” for Scottish independence “for the first time in a long while.”
His announcement comes just days after former SNP leadership candidate Ash Regan decided to cross to Alba, becoming Alba’s first MSP. “However, when she said in her speech that now hope returns to the Scottish Independence movement I was filled with renewed optimism for the future of Scotland for the first time in a long while.
“Since then, I have endeavoured to make the ward, and South Ayrshire as a whole, the place myself and my constituents call home, a better community and place to live- it has been an honour to represent them.
