South Alabama’s defense also helped re-take the momentum in the second half, forcing consecutive 3-and-outs to begin the second half. The Jaguars’ offense scored after each. Southeastern Louisiana pushed South Alabama around for much of the first half, taking a 7-0 lead with a 13-play, 93-yard drive in the second quarter. Zachary Clement — the second of two SLU quarterbacks — hit tight end Ivan Drobosky in the back of the end zone with a five-yard touchdown pass with 5:25 left in the half.
That score tied the game 7-7 with 4:02 to go before halftime. Yam Banks picked off a pass for the Jaguars moments later, keeping it a tie game at the break. South Alabama has now won nine straight games vs. FCS competition, and 10 of 11 overall. The lone blemish was a 22-21 defeat to Southern Utah to begin the 2013 season.
