Since the show’s success, it was revealed the show would continue on with a season 2 in a different way, pulling a True Detective/Fargo anthology pivot, exploring the concept in new ways. But while True Detective is “murder” and Fargo is “murder and possibly other crimes,” Beef is about well, a beef between characters. And now it may have found the actors to play them this time.
Can season 1 match the brilliance of the original, or will we have another True Detective season 2 on our hands? Hopefully not. I remember watching season 1 of Beef and saying immediately “wow they both deserve Emmys, no question.” And sure enough, it seems everyone else agreed. With that cast, it is going to be a very, very hard to screw this up, and I will look forward to Isaac and Mulligan potentially being confirmed.
