Oxford scientists make new solar cell technology discovery which you could soon wear, stick on your mobile or coat your car with

They say they have developed an ultra-thin material capable of being stuck to any everyday object to harness the power of the sun. The material can be applied as a coating and is far smaller than current solar panels as well as being more energy efficient, meaning it can convert more of the sun’s energy.
The Oxford team believe their approach will continue to reduce the cost of solar and also make it the most sustainable form of renewable energy. In the past 14 years the average cost of solar electricity has dropped by 90 per cent, making it nearly a third cheaper than fossil fuels., are concerned that “valuable farmland” is too often the location of choice for solar farms.
Henry Snaith, Professor of Renewable Energy, Oxford University Physics Department, who leads the team said: ‘The latest innovations in solar materials and techniques demonstrated in our labs could become a platform for a new industry, manufacturing materials to generate solar energy more sustainably and cheaply by using existing buildings, vehicles, and objects.
