Opinion: Socialism defined: Letters
Everyone talks about socialism, but hardly anyone defines it. It used to be that socialism and communism were used interchangeably, but it makes no sense to use two terms for the same thing and no one does that anymore. Socialism is best defined as an economic system between private ownership of the economy and government ownership of the economy, which are known as capitalism and communism.
Billions of dollars to go from Bakersfield to Merced is nonsense. As usual Sacramento isn’t listening with no regard to taxpayers. HSR will never sustain itself.
