The AL’s best team could play three games inside a cozy, comforting ballpark that will very likely keep yelling a bad word at Jose Altuve.Then, at some point, Boone and the rest of the Yankees screamers would be forced to admit a team that is 7-2 against the pinstripes this season was simply the better ballclub.
In the 2019 ALCS, Minute Maid Park was again at the heart of the Astros advancing to the World Series, thanks to Altuve’s Game 6 walkoff celebration. But those Astros also took Games 3 and 4 at Yankee Stadium by a combined 12-4 trouncing. So winning two inside Yankee Stadium before the series is forced to return to Minute Maid Park isn’t just possible. It’s practical for a 106-win team that has found a way to win five consecutive playoff contests that were decided by a total of seven runs.
