Meet the man who films drone shots for TV shows in Yorkshire
Philip, left, with Robbie Cummings, filming Canal Boat Diaries, it’s a creative life that’s a long way from his dad's photography business which he joined after leaving art school.
‘It was a massive undertaking and very stressful with no real breaks and about ten years ago I was exhausted and had some time out for health reasons - and thought ‘something has to change’’ says Philip.He saw drones on sale, ‘bought one to play about with’, and managed to do a few jobs for a local businesses.
It was when a director from BBC’s The One Show who lives in Halifax saw a drone image Philip had taken of snowy Halifax that things started to take off for Philip. Philip explains,’We fly several test shots to see how the shots work with what the director had in mind and you have to get the drone in exactly the same spot every time however the actual take may happen a couple of hours later so it's a big memory game too, where did we put it... that cloud has gone now etc etc.
