Sketchy George Santos burned campaign cash on hotels, meals and $200 taxis
$12,386 on Hyatt hotels from West Palm Beach, Fla. to El Paso, Texas.More than $38,000 crisscrossing the country on Delta Airlines, with whom the campaign made 123 separate transactions covering airfare and baggage fees since the start of 2021.
“The sheer volume of travel is very unusual for congressional candidates,” Daniel Weiner, a former Federal Elections Commission lawyer who now works at the NYU School of Law’s Brennan Center for Justice, told The Post Friday about Santos’ campaign spending habits. HIs campaign filings are also raising eyebrows for including many dozens of line items describing expenses on flights, taxis, parking, office supplies, food, and beverages that are exactly one penny – or other small amounts – less than the $200 limit above which candidates must provide receipts detailing the campaign purpose of such spending.For example, an Oct.
