Daily News | Sixers great and Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo undergoes treatment for brain tumor
on Feb. 22, 2001. Mutombo was a key pickup for a Sixers squad that finished the 2000-01 season with a loss in the NBA Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo native was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015. He’s recognized as one the league’s all-time best defenders. Mutombo is second behind Hakeem Olajuwon on the league all-time blocks list with 3,289.Like the Sixers, De’Anthony Melton hasn’t had much postseason success. He’s determined to change that.
