The funeral cortege will pass Old Trafford before arriving at Manchester Cathedral
Sir Bobby Charlton 's funeral will celebrate 'one of the finest footballers this country has ever produced', Manchester United have said. The club have released details of the service for the Old Trafford and England legend, who died on October 21 aged 86.
Sir Bobby died following an accidental fall at a nursing home in Knutsford, an inquest heard. In a statement United said the funeral procession was expected to pass in front of the Trinity statue, which depicts Sir Bobby alongside George Best and Denis Law, at 1.30pm. At the cathedral a private service will be led by Canon Nigel Ashworth and include eulogies by family members and the football club.
