Thanks to tens of billions of dollars injected from its reserves, Singapore came out of the pandemic without being saddled with debt. Despite its much-publicised role as an emergency fund, Singapore’s reserves do much more for the republic’s economy and its people even when there isn’t a crisis.
Yet much of this other role and the eco-system built to manage it, are shrouded in mystery.
