Sigourney Weaver directed a scene of AvatarTheWayOfWater that involved her character at James Cameron's request: 'And so I basically said, 'Okay, that director role, I assign to you.''
James Cameron had a good reason for wanting Sigourney Weaver to direct her own scene in Avatar: The Way of Water. While Avatar: The Way of Water focuses on the continued adventures of Jake Sully and Neytiri as they forge their own family and their own path in life, it shifts the focus somewhat by centering around the children that Neytiri and Sully bore and adopted along the way.
Despite her death in Avatar, Weaver's Grace returns in The Way of Water to interact with her daughter. In the scene, Kiri visits her mother and is able to hold a short conversation with her, and Weaver is actually running double duty, as she is both acting and directing the scene.
