Shanti Pereira hugging her parents Clarence and Jeet after winning the women's 200m crown at the Asian Games.
Jeet, 63, added: “I have mixed feelings. Waiting for the event to take place was really nerve-racking... She did well for all of us, we’re really proud of her it’s been a really hard-working process for her.” Her boyfriend Tan Zong Yang, a former national sprinter, and her aunt have also been a constant presence at her events.
Jeet has observed a change in her daughter’s mindset over the past few years, noting that her confidence has grown.
