Crawford narrowly avoided a collision at home plate but came away shaken up.
ATLANTA — The Giants won the replay review and scored a go-ahead run, but they may have lost something much larger.
On a sacrifice fly from Luis González in the fourth inning of their game Tuesday against the Braves, shortstop Brandon Crawford appeared to injure his left leg while scoring at home plate. Crawford was initially called out — and seemed to react late to there being a play at home plate at all — when Michael Harris II’s throw from center field beat him home.
He was replaced at shortstop by Thairo Estrada, who slid over from second base. Wilmer Flores entered the game to take over at second. Crawford’s 1,469 games at shortstop are the most in franchise history. He has never missed more than 24 in a single season. Crawford was ruled safe at home after replay review, but appears to be shaken up on the play at the plate
