Severe thunderstorm warning issued for parts of Chicago area Tuesday evening
CHICAGO -- After tying a record-warm morning low temperature of just 71 degrees on Tuesday in Chicago, rain and storms were increasing across the area Tuesday night.A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 7:45 p.m. for parts of central Cook, southern DuPage, and northwestern Will counties. The Jolliet, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Romeoville, and Plainfield areas area among those affected.
While the risk of severe weather is low, a few storms overnight may contain small hail and gusty winds, and produce localized flooding.Light rain is likely to persist during the Wednesday morning commute. Following brief clearing Wednesday afternoon, a cold front brings another quick-hitting line of rain, then cooler temperatures Wednesday night. Thursday will bring very comfortable weather and low humidity lasting through the weekend.ForecastTonight: Rain and thunderstorms likely.
