The local politicians say it is 'embarrassing to admit' they are Conservatives.
Cedwien Brown and Joseph Smyth, members of North Northamptonshire Council, resigned from the Conservative PartySeven councillors have resigned from the Conservative Party in a row over plans for a travellers' site.
In a joint resignation letter, they said they were "fed up with being ignored" and it was "embarrassing to admit we represent the Conservative Party".
The councillors say they have a number of other grievances, including the siting of an electric vehicle charging point in the town. "Despite the town council offering three other far more suitable sites for these EV charging points, no response has been given to our town clerk or our lord of the manor, and no guarantee that further EV charging points will not be added to the area in the future."
