Seton Hall captain Al-Amir Dawes says the team is 'buying in' more ahead of Shaheen Holloway's 2nd season.
Seton Hall Pirates guard Al-Amir Dawes leaps in an attempt to keep the ball in bounds during the first half against the Connecticut Huskies on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023 in Newark, N.J.last year, he only had a couple of months to get the roster in order and the team featured just one player whom he had coached., who had been a key component of the school’s dramatic run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in 2022.
The coach likes his roster and likes the fact that he’s had more time to get comfortable in his new job at his old school. “I thought last year, we couldn’t shoot the ball well and it kind of hurt us offensively, so I just wanted to get more size and depth. I think bringing three big guys in — Sada’s 6′11″, Dave Tubek is 6′8″, you’re bringing some size in and now we’re a little deeper in the frontcourt, and in the backcourt as well. Just in case someone goes down with an injury, you’re not missing too much.”
